Complaints?

If you have a complaint about a trash or recycling collection service provider, contact that provider directly to resolve the issue. You may submit any complaints, in writing, to the attention of the City Clerk's Office. Letters can be mailed to 4800 W. 92nd Ave., Westminster, CO 80031 or sent via email to licensing@westminsterco.gov. All written complaints will be taken into consideration when licenses are up for renewal at the first of each year.

Are You A Waste Service Provider?

Private trash collection and recycling providers are required to obtain a Solid Waste/Recycling Collector License from the city. The licensing process allows the provider to operate within the city, but does not constitute any endorsement of the services provided by these companies.

All licensed private trash collection providers must offer both trash collection and recycling to all customers curbside - services and fees will vary.

Compost

The City of Westminster does not provide compost collection or services to residents or businesses. Services need to be contracted directly with one of the licensed Trash and Recycling Collectors listed below.

  • Ridwell: Divert hard to recycle items from the landfill through reususing and recycling common household materials.

  • TerraLoop: Looking to divert items with value from the landfill like furniture, vinyl banners, art supplies, plants? Look into TerraLoop, where your business can create profiles using a mobile app where items are listed for pick-up by other businesses.

The city has contracted with Waste Management At Your Door Special Collection, Inc. to collect household hazardous waste directly from your home by appointment FREE of charge within program limits.

How the Program Works:

  • Residents must have at least three different materials before scheduling an appointment (it cannot be all paint - see materials list below).
  • If you have paint, you must have more than three (3) gallons, in addition to two other materials for disposal.
  • Paint - If you have paint, visit PaintCare to find a drop-off site near you.
  • To schedule your collection appointment: call 800-449-7587, email AtYourDoor@WM.com, or visit the Waste Management At Your Door website.
  • Prior to your appointment date, you will receive a collection bag to place your non-recyclable materials in for pick-up.  Recyclable hazardous materials in containers five (5) gallons or smaller must be placed outside of the bag.
  • On the date of collection, place materials by your garage or front door before 7 a.m.

Sustainability Center

Westminster Sustainability Center is a convenient, clean, and safe location where residents can drop off recyclables, including hard-to-recycle items, without having to go to multiple places.

Please note: In order to ensure high-quality service, single-stream recycling is now reserved for Westminster residents only. Hard-to-recycle and reuse services remain available to everyone.
